SALE! Garshana/Abhyanga/Shiro only $90/75 minutes ($115 value).

Garshana-Abhyanga is an ancient treatment featuring a dry lymphatic massage with silk gloves, followed by an individualized herbal oil treatment. The silk gloves increase circulation and stimulate the pores for accepting the warm herbalized oils applied in the Abhyanga (massage) portion of the session. Abhyanga is a rhythmic massage using herbalized oils specific for your present imbalances. This massage deeply relaxes and nourishes the body. The goal is balance and harmony in our mind/body/spirit. The subtle channels and systems are stimulated through the marma points on the body as well as with the healing properties of the oils used. Your scalp will be oiled as well, so be prepared to shower if you have later plans. $80/1 hour

Add-on Basti means "container" in Sanskrit and is a procedure which involves warm medicated oil confined or "contained" over an affected muscle or joint. These oils penetrate deeply into muscles, tendons, connective tissue and bones to provide long-lasting relief and comfort. Typical places to recieve a basti over would be elbows, lower back (kati basti), knees (janu basti), ankles and wrists. A basti can also be applied over each eye to treat dryness and tension (Netra Basti). $25 (add $15 for additional areas).

Add-on Mini-Shirodhara- The word Shiro means head and Dhara means stream. This treatment involved pouring a stream of oil over the guest’s forehead. Shirodhara is one of the most powerful treatments to relieve Vata (wind) in the mind. When Vata is in excess the mind can easily become overstimulated. Preoccupied with swarming thoughts, the mind has a difficult time slowing down. This can lead to an inability to handle stress, creating nervousness, anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue, psychological disorders, and more. Shirodhara is the specific treatment for these disorders and any other disorder that is stress related. With eighty percent of all disease in the West now attributed to stress, shirodhara becomes one of the most important treatments… shirodhara works mainly in the manomaya kosha, or the mental sheath. It is here that the minds holds on to past impressions that created imbalanced desires (vasanas) and habitual patterns of behavior (samskaras). These impressions are held captive in the limbic system or the emotional cortex of the brain.

As oil is poured on the forehead, the nervous system is deeply stilled. The brain waves slow down and become coherent. Once the brain is quieted, the pranavaha and monovaha srotas begin to transport prana, oxygen, and other necessary nutrients to the brain. When the brain is under stress, cerebral circulation is compromised. It is in this stressed state that the ability for the brain to activate mood stabilizing receptors with the appropriate neurotransmitters is inhibited. When the brain is quited and the srotas are activated, the cerebral circulation is greatly improved, and access to these mood stabilizing receptors is enhanced. The result: better brain function, mood stability, and improved stress handling ability. ~Excerpt from The Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic Massage by Dr. John Doulliard. $45/15 minutes (1 full pot of oil)
